MONTECRISTO
“When you’re ready to shoot, say ‘pull.’ When I hear that ‘pull,’ I’ll throw the clay,” says my shooting instructor Myron Weirich, who has just placed a large Weatherby semi-automatic 20-gauge shotgun in the wee arms of this little lady.

TORONTO STAR
ST. VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES – Our mini tour bus skirts corners on a series of windy roads along St. Vincent’s stunning northeastern Windward Coast, where volcanic hills jut out from expanses of lush fields that overlook the Atlantic Ocean. Pastel-hued homes are scattered throughout the hills, some structurally strong while others vary in degrees of degradation or abandonment.
TRAVELAGE WEST
Fado is Portugal’s traditional folk music and its version of the blues, with roots tracing back to the 1800s. Most ballads evoke the Portuguese emotion of saudade: a yearning or longing for something lost.
CHICAGO TRIBUNE
ST. CATHERINE, Egypt — In the Bible, Moses climbs Mount Sinai to receive the Ten Commandments.
n seemed unlikely as I stood at the base of the mountain, chilled to the bone at 2 a.m., with only the faint light from a spattering of stars and sliver of moon on the dark rocky terrain.
VANCOUVER SUN
Our vehicle bounces and rattles over dusty roads bordered by expansive stretches of lush fields dotted with swaying palm trees. Abundant fruit trees shade outer rows of sugarcane against a backdrop of the Maniabon mountain range. While this landscape captures my attention, it more importantly commanded the attention of the intrepid Christopher Columbus upon his arrival in 1492.
ENSEMBLE VACATIONS
My tour starts in the Eastern Cape driving through rolling hills to the village of Qunu, where Mandela spent his childhood, and where he retired after public life. Along the highway sits the house he built for his family when he returned from 27 years of imprisonment on Robben Island. We drive the dusty roads of the village to his private grave sitting across the road from his family’s burial site.
